The Women of Lambda Kappa Omega Sorority, Inc. stand in solidarity to positively impact the lives of youth within our organization and community, focusing on health, safety, and daily living activities.
The importance of mentoring youth is that they always have someone that they can look up to and count on. When I think about it mentoring the youth I think about creating bonds with them getting to know them and allowing them to be able to trust me enough to talk to me and let me know things.
-Soror Hemingway-
Mentoring youth is crucial for their development, self-confidence, and the acquisition of practical decision-making skills. A trusted adult provides guidance and support, helping young people navigate life's challenges. Knowing when to seek help is crucial for building emotional resilience, and asking for assistance is a sign of strength, not weakness.
-Soror Rush-
I care because a mentor played a pivotal role in my personal growth. As a youth, having a positive adult mentor helped build my confidence, knowing that someone cared for my well-being. As a mentor, it is essential to be trustworthy and a great listener. Trust is the cornerstone of mentoring. Mentors should lead by example, giving reliable and sound advice.
-Soror Prather -
Mentoring makes a big difference in young lives by offering guidance, support, and encouragement. A trusted adult can boost confidence and help youths to make smart choices. Positive mentors show how to recognize trustworthy people and understand when it’s okay to ask for help. Knowing when to reach out, whether for advice or during tough times, can change everything. Asking for help isn’t a weakness; it’s a sign of strength. With these skills, young people grow stronger and are ready to take on life’s challenges.
-Soror Spivey-
Mentoring youth is all about showing up, being real, and giving them the tools to navigate life. Having a trusted adult in their corner can make all the difference, helping them recognize who’s really for them and when it’s time to reach out for help. A lot of us grew up thinking we had to figure everything out on our own, but the truth is, asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. When we pour into the next generation, we’re not just guiding them, we’re making sure they know they’re never alone in this journey.”
We need to let people know no matter who is abusing, it is wrong. People are not
possessions; you do not own anyone. If you love the person as you say, you want what is best for them, and hurting them is not what’s best. Stop and think before you react. When we see someone doing something wrong let us stop minding our own business. That is our business. Humans seem to have lost humanity. We don’t have a community like we used to. Let us educate rather than condemn.
Join us for some good, old-fashioned girl talk, food, and prizes. This event is free, but registration is required.
At Lambda Kappa Omega, we are dedicated to empowering young women nationwide. This year, we plan to host a breakfast event filled with affirmations, crafts, fun activities, and educational opportunities. Our goal is to keep the girls engaged while teaching them essential life lessons in a way that feels enjoyable rather than educational. How can we achieve this? With the support of our amazing Sorors and educators. Please check back regularly for updates on the breakfast and affirmations throughout the chapters nationwide.
